next125 unveils LumiQ – a revolutionary, holistic kitchen lighting system developed in collaboration with Häfele, specialists in intelligent fittings, electronic closing systems and lighting solutions.

LumiQ represents a fundamentally new approach to kitchen lighting, combining intelligent solutions, cutting-edge technology and simplified planning within a single, fully integrated system.

Kitchen lighting has long served multiple roles: providing precise task lighting for safe food preparation and creating atmospheric illumination to enhance mood and ambience.

However, until now, there has been no truly consistent, end-to-end lighting system capable of meeting these diverse requirements within a unified design approach.

Developed over a two-year process, LumiQ integrates lighting across the entire kitchen environment, including worktops, open shelving, grip ledges, drawers, pull-outs, plinths and ceiling floodlights. Each application features tailored technical characteristics and lighting effects, yet all are unified through consistent performance and cohesive aesthetic design.

Lighting plays a critical role in both the functional and emotional experience of a kitchen. With the continued rise of open-plan living, kitchens are now multifunctional spaces used for food preparation, socialising, relaxing and even working. As a result, lighting must do more than illuminate, it must adapt, support focus and shape the atmosphere.

LumiQ achieves this through refined existing lighting technologies optimised for energy efficiency, longevity and ease of use. The transition to 24-volt technology enhances performance and durability across all components. Seamless dimming and adjustable colour temperatures ranging from warm to neutral white (2,700K – 5,000K) enable precise control, supporting both functional task lighting and atmospheric mood lighting. Advanced optics ensure light is directed precisely to the desired work areas.

Installation is fast and intuitive, and all components can be easily replaced in line with the Ecodesign Directive. Cutting-edge technology allows the entire system to be controlled via app, an optional wall switch or with smart home compatibility, including integration with Alexa, KNX and Casambi. Users can also create and store customised lighting sequences and routines for different times of day or occasions.

A carefully considered combination of linear and vertical lighting elements help create a balanced and immersive ambience. Innovations such as illuminated grip ledges introduce subtle, integrated lighting behind built-in appliances, while intelligent lighting within pull-out systems ensures full visibility of contents for improved usability.

LumiQ also introduces significant value for retailers through its dedicated Lighting Planner – a dedicated design and specification tool that streamlines the entire lighting planning process. Fully integrated into CARAT, KPS.MAX and Winner Flex, the planner enables a smooth workflow and intelligent lighting design in just a few clicks. It allows retailers to:

  • Quickly generate tailored lighting concepts based on specific kitchen layouts
  • Access real-time pricing and product suggestions
  • Choose from pre-configured lighting packages or create bespoke solutions
  • Visualise results through 3D rendering for client presentations

Within seconds, the system can recommend suitable lighting components based on the design of the kitchen, ensuring both speed and accuracy in specification. It also automatically calculates and includes all necessary supporting components, such as converters, control units, cabling and connectors – ensuring a complete and technically accurate specification.

As the kitchen continues to evolve into the social heart of the home, driven by the enduring popularity of open-plan living, homeowners are increasingly seeking lighting that can seamlessly transition between task-focused brightness for cooking and softer, ambient settings for entertaining and relaxation. To meet this need LumiQ offers a range of intelligent features such as dynamic switch-on and switch-off sequences – light signatures controlled via digital LED strips that create a welcoming experience on entry. It also introduces continuous grip-ledge LED lighting for dishwasher fronts, which remains illuminated when the appliance is opened.

Lighting is now widely regarded as a fundamental element of architectural design rather than an accessory added at the end of the design process. LumiQ reflects this shift towards holistic, fully integrated lighting ecosystems, where every light source works together both technically and visually.

LumiQ is a pioneering innovation in the space of kitchen lighting, setting the new standard in kitchen lighting technology, application and planning.
