Blue is often associated with calm, stability and wellbeing. In interiors, it has long been favoured for its versatility – equally suited to dramatic, contemporary spaces and softer, more relaxed schemes.
Today, kitchen design embraces every shade of the ocean – from soft sea-glass blues and gentle coastal tones to rich, inky hues reminiscent of deep water.
However, a careful choice of shade is recommended as blue kitchens can sometimes feel cold. Through careful planning and pairing of colours, surfaces and finishes unique looks can be created that perfectly capture the desired feeling.

Image 1: Creating a calm and tranquil atmosphere, the Azure blue finish of this next125 kitchen feels both soft and refreshing. With clean lines, the matt velvet fronts are paired with SensiQ worktops in the same colour and inset into a painted recess. Architectural grid detailing and carefully integrated lighting add visual structure and depth.

Images 2 & 3: Rich and atmospheric, Petrol Blue in the nx510 kitchen range from next125 combines deep blue tones with subtle green undertones. The bold, modern matt velvet lacquer beautifully complements natural wood and metal finishes.

Shown here as a tall collection of cabinets, central pocket doors cleverly conceal a cocktail bar with glass back and ceramic worktop. The next125 Frame system incorporates elegant shelving and suspended glass storage to maximise the available space.

Images 4-6: The Finca kitchen from Schüller in deep blue satin evokes the warmth and relaxed character of Mediterranean interiors. Combined with the terracotta warmth of brick and a slim white worktop, the Finca kitchen is the heart of the home. The deep blue satin lacquer fronts feature a subtle woodgrain texture and Shaker-style detailing that give the Finca kitchen its relaxed country character, further emphasised by the elegant brass handles.

The Systemo quartz worktop in Blanco Zeus, glass doors and open shelving add a lightness to the design. Herbs, ceramics and decorative jars displayed on the plate shelf – supported by elegant curved wall brackets – reinforce the crafted feel of the design.

Image 9 & 10: A real eye-catcher, the ultramarine blue island appears to float on an invisible plinth, enhancing the sense of lightness within the space. This is echoed by the adjoining table which rests on an elegant single foot.
Additional drama is created with the Marble Nox effect worktop and panels which have a rich gold grain running through the black background.

The Ultramarine blue island contrasts dramatically with the floor-to-ceiling onyx black cabinetry, which stylishly conceals storage and appliances.
On the back wall, elegant glass display units feature finely textured reeded glass showcased by interior lighting.
